  • Up-to-date world and Russian metallurgy. Main trends in its development. Metallurgy in the Ural region.  
  • State of iron ore and fuel and energy sectors in world and Russian metallurgy. Modern refractory materials.
  • Modern blast-furnace process. Main directions in coke consumption reduction.  Alternative processing of  iron ore raw materials.
  • Problems and prospects in using unconventional iron crude ore and new fuel types in metallurgical enterprises of the South Ural region. 
  • New steel grades: high-strength steels, specialty steels. Up-to-date requirements for harmful ingredients contents.
  • Achievements and main problems of the metallurgical science.
  • Up-to-date continuous steel casting and main directions in its development. Casting and rolling plants.
  • Issues of production of ferroalloys and key non-ferrous metals in Russian metallurgy.
  • Major issues of basic oxygen and arc-furnace steelmaking processes. Ladle treatment of steel.

Activities:

  • Teacher-led group activities in a classroom;
  • Extracurricular self-study of the teacher’s assignments and tasks, including the use of educational facilities (obligatory);
  • Office-hours.
