Training for Foreigners Funded by the Government

Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University has been included in the pool of universities which are to receive federal funding for the academic year of 2017/18. The funding is meant to cover the additional educational programmes designed for foreign students and students without citizenship who enter the university based on the quota for foreign and stateless applicants and who, therefore, are entitled for preparation courses designed to prepare them for degree programmes taught in Russian.

NMSTU was selected among the other federal state educational institutions by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

“There is a number of criteria which have to be met before an institution can be included in the pool. Our preparation stage involved establishing a department of the Russian language for foreigners. It means we built a team of teachers, prepared the necessary teacher’s and learner’s materials, and launched a promotion campaign. Last year the department saw its first enrollment, which included students from Syria, Yemen, Australia and Bali. The students paid the required tuition fee and spent a year learning the Russian language. We have qualified this year thanks to the great efforts invested in the preparation stage,” comments Zoya Akmanova, Dean of the Faculty of Additional Education for Children and Adults.
