The Institute of Power Engineering and Automated Systems is a part of the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. It has been set up as a successor to the Departments of Power Engineering and Automation and Computer Engineering.

There are 10 departments in the Institute. Over 200 teachers, including 120 PhDs, 12 D.Scs and professors, work there.

There are 1,500 students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and postgraduate programmes.

A campus life is rich in interesting recreation and leisure events and social self-fulfillment exercises. KVN teams of the Institute were awarded The Rector Cup in the inter-institutional humour contests.  Students of the Institute win higher awards at sports competitions of all levels, including Federal and European championships.

The University is proud of its students’ records in the international collegiate programming contest.

The Institute alumni are employed at industrial enterprises, design organisations, and educational institutions as well as a business sector where they hold key positions in the areas of Power Engineering, Automation, Software and hardware complexes and telecommunications systems in particular.

Research Areas of the Institute

The research work of the Institute aims to:

  • Prove, develop and implement energy-saving control systems of electro-technical complexes of process facilities and metallurgical processes basing on state-of-the-art software and hardware facilities of equipment operation automation, diagnostics and monitoring;
  • Prove, develop and implement energy-saving heating equipment for the industrial complex heat technology basing on a system analysis and use of energy-saving fundamental principles and techniques.  
  • Prove, develop and implement principles of mathematical modeling and software and infoware of industrial complex power facilities and social objects.

Scientific achievements of the Departments of the Institute are widely accepted in our country and abroad. Research teams of the Institute won grants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, grants of the President of the Russian Federation, won prizes at different contests.
