The course consists of the following units and topics:
1. Introduction to Economics.
Topics: Evolution of views on the subject of economics. Main problem of economics. General methodological principles and methods of economic analysis. Definition and main types of economic systems. Fundamentals of functioning of modern mixed economy. Market, its structure and functioning mechanism. Circular flow of resources, goods and income. Economic functions of the government.
2. Micro- and macro-economics.
Topics: Market mechanism of interaction of supply and demand. Production theory. Production costs. Resource market and its equilibrium. Income distribution. General equilibrium of market environment. Entrepreneurship and market dynamics. Definition of economic environment cyclicality. Models of macro-economic equilibrium. Economic growth and its control.
3. World economy.
Topics: World trade. Role of transport in the world trade. International currency relations. International currency system and currency exchange rate. International capital flows. Definition of the balance of payments.
4. Problems of transition of the transportation complex to market relations.
Topics: Main macro-economic problems of transition economy. Problems of creating competitive environment in different modes of transport. Problems of creating investment environment. Structural problems of the transport industry. Economic problems of interaction of different transport modes.
5. Problems of economics of the scientific-technical progress.
Topics: Concept of innovations. Impact of innovations on economic growth. Economic and organizational problems of creating innovative environment. Venture capital funds as a tool of the scientific-technical progress.
6. Business planning.
Topics: Definition of business planning. Purpose and description of a business plan. Organization of business planning. ROI criteria. Indicators of financial, budget, social and environmental efficiency of a project. Calculation methods of business-plan efficiency indicators.
