The Faculty of chemistry and metallurgy
The faculty was founded in 1935. The total number of teachers is 85, among them 13 doctors of engineering, 50 candidates of engineering. The staff of the faculty includes 2 Honored Scientists of the Russian Federation (RF), Honored Worker of the Higher School of RF, honorary worker of higher vocational education, two Honored researchers of theUSSR, RF government prize laureate.
The Faculty conducts training of qualified specialists on 6 specialties:
- “Metallurgy of Ferrous Metals”;
- “Casting Production of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals”;
- “Chemical Technology of Refractory Nonmetallic and Carbon Materials”;
- “Chemistry (teacher of chemistry and safety of habitability)”;
- “Geography (teacher of geography and safety of habitability)”;
- “Life Preservation”.
A post-graduate course and a doctor’s degree course on specialties “Metallurgy of Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, and Rare Metals” and “Casting Production” are functioning at the faculty.
Priority scientific directions:
- development and upgrading of metallurgical processes and systems;
- mathematical modelling of metallurgical technology and production;
- development of theory and technology of casting alloys and foundry;
- synthesis of new metallic and nonmetallic alloys under beforehand specified conditions for special purpose casting;
- enterprises industrial systems for ferrous metallurgy perfecting;
- solving of actual theoretical and practical problems of professional education.
