WorldSkills stands for an international association that was founded after the War due to the lack of skilled workers in Europe. Russia joined in in 2012, and today the membership of WorldSkills counts 76 countries.
The mission of the championship is to raise the recognition of qualified labour and to showcase the value of professional skills, achievements, growth and personal success. WorldSkills is important for stimulating economic development and fostering hi-tech industries. Young professionals strive to take part in the competition, and NMSTU was one of the first universities of the region to hold an internal qualification stage.
The participants spent three busy days dealing with challenging tasks and demonstrating their skills in such areas as CAD engineering, software solutions for businesses, and Web design.
The winners in each of the above areas of competency are to go to Moscow at the end of November for the national competition of WorldSkills Russia 2017.
