Basketball Stars Light Up Magnitogorsk

From 25th thru 27th January, Magnitogorsk welcomed basketball studs – with 36 best student basketball players among them – as well as two of the actors of the greatest Russian Olympics basketball blockbuster “Going Vertical”.
This event was organised by the Student Basketball Association, the city administration and Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University and supported by the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region and Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works.
The event agenda also included a meeting with the actors of the recent Russian sport drama film “Going Vertical”, exhibition matches, master classes led by distinguished people of Russian culture and sport, the debate club “Formula for Success in Life and Sport” and a master class to support the sports competition among children who conquered cancer.
The key event – ASB All Star Game – took place on January 27th marking the Russian Student’s Day. The game was between the West and the East. Two players from the NMSTU’s Steel Hearts team played for the East team, who became the winner of this heated game with the final score of 116:109. It is now a matter of waiting till the next year to see if the West team will gain revenge.
