Postgraduates from Three Ural Universities Gather at Yunost

On October 5th, NMSTU’s Yunost resort witnessed a workshop which was organized for postgraduate students and had the following official title: IEEE Russian Workshop on Power Engineering and Automation of Metallurgy Industry: Research & Practice. The workshop was organized by the South Ural IEEE Chapter, South Ural State University (National Research University) from Chelyabinsk and Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University.

The four sections of the workshop gathered over 50 participants, including 32 postgraduate students from UrFU, SUSU and NMSTU, which also included foreign academic exchange students. Our university was represented by 9 students.

Sergey Lukianov, director of the Institute of Power Engineering and Automation Systems, gave an opening speech and greeted the participants on behalf of the NMSTU administration.

The main aim of this forum was to promote communication among young researchers engaged in the field of power engineering, electronics and industrial automation. The participants had a unique opportunity to not only present their findings to the academic community, but to also have them published for free. All reports that were presented in English were to be published in the workshop proceedings posted in the Scopus-indexed digital library IEEE Xplore. Reports that were presented in Russian were to be published in one of the journals indexed by the Russian Science Citation Index and included in the Higher Attestation Commission’s List.

Foreign participants were taken on a tour around the Metallurg-Magnitogorsk Ski Resort.

All the workshop participants pointed out the high level of the forum’s organisation. In the end, it was agreed that Yunost would become a permanent venue for this annual workshop.
