Peoples’ Friendship at NMSTU

NMSTU’s vice rector for international affairs Alexey Korchunov met with foreign students who are studying at NMSTU under academic mobility programmes. Students from Bulgaria, Italy and France shared with the vice rector what they thought about their living and studying in Magnitogorsk. This meeting was to mark the International Students’ Day.

Such meetings are becoming a tradition now. This is how the vice rector can find out from the actual students about all the aspects of their stay and study experience: if they are happy with their accommodation, if they have difficulty getting used to the new environment, the language or the learning process. He can even give students some ideas about how to spend their leisure time.

We have been to Russia before – in Moscow, Saint Petersburg. But Magnitogorsk represents a true Russia. It is the true reality of Russia. You know, they have snow here. We met many Russians, and we are ecstatic about Russian people. They are extremely open and friendly. We are also lucky with our teachers here. Of course, Russian is not an easy language to speak but with practice we understand it better and we like it. It is a very beautiful language. You ask us if there is anything that surprised us here. Oh yes! When we hear the bell ringing to indicate the end of the class. In our country bells are only used in schools,” share the students.

There is still time left in their semester at NMSTU. Yet they are already thinking about coming back to take a Master’s degree course. Either way the students do not intend to leave Russia behind.

At the end of the meeting filled with warm emotion, Alexey Korchunov gave the students souvenirs for good memory and wished them success in their academic pursuits.
