Chelyabinsk Region’s youth laboratories report annual results

At the extended meeting of the Council on Higher Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region, chaired by Governor Aleksey Teksler, the first results of the youth laboratories’ work were summarized. The laboratories were established a year ago at five regional universities with the support of the regional government and co-financing from industrial partners.

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the annual report of the Laboratory of Advanced Engineering Technologies in Metalware Production. The report was delivered by the head of the laboratory, Dmitry Konstantinov, and the Head of the Technological Center, Chief Technologist of MMK-METIZ, Aleksey Stolyarov. The presentation outlined specific results as well as a development program for the next three years.

“We worked throughout the past year on the project to establish the Laboratory of Advanced Engineering Technologies in Metalware Production. We structured our report through the lens of a research concept, explaining how, at the intersection of traditional materials science and modern digitalization, we adapt fundamental research for practical industrial applications. In my opinion, Aleksey Yuryevich and I managed to convey the value of such a cross- and interdisciplinary approach, and the discussion following the presentation is the best proof of that,” noted the head of the laboratory, Dmitry Konstantinov.

The youth laboratories project has been recognized as a successful example of cooperation between university science, government, and business. All five laboratories supported by the region presented their initial achievements and future plans, demonstrating a range of scientific and technological fields.
