The 5th EXTEND Meeting. Seminar of the EXTEND project "Excellence in engineering education through teacher training and new pedagogical approaches in Russia and Tajikistan" was held in Riga Technical University (RTU, Riga)

From March 11 to 15, 2019, the next seminar of the EXTEND project "Excellence in engineering education through teacher training and new pedagogical approaches in Russia and Tajikistan"was held in Riga Technical University (RTU, Riga).  The seminar was attended by representatives of four Russian universities, four universities of the Republic of Tajikistan and four European universities.

Within the framework of the traditional "round tables" and workshops the following issues were discussed:

• use of new pedagogical approaches in the system of modern engineering education;
• use of ICT in the system of engineering personnel training;
• new methods in the organization of teaching PHd students;
• integration of European pedagogical experience in the system of training.

The result of partner universities’ professional communication on the basis of RTU was the development and approval of the EXTEND-centers concept, as well as the structure of basic training courses that will need to be implemented in the framework of these centers on the basis of each consortium University.
