The 6th EXTEND Meeting. The University of Minho hosted the seminar of the EXTEND project "Excellence in engineering education through teacher training and new pedagogical approaches in Russia and Tajikistan"

From 12 to 18 may 2019, the University of Minho (Guimaraes, Portugal) hosted the seminar of the EXTEND project "Excellence in engineering education through teacher training and new pedagogical approaches in Russia and Tajikistan". The seminar was attended by representatives of four Russian universities, four universities of the Republic of Tajikistan and four universities in Europe.
Within the framework of the traditional "round tables" and workshops discussed the following issues:
- main trends of modern engineering education;
- use of new pedagogical approaches to the system of engineering education;
- the best European universities practices in solving the problems of modern engineering education.
In addition, there was the discussion of the concept, development and content of training courses, which will later become the basis of the educational component in the work of the EXTEND-centers of the consortium universities. The main courses, which were coordinated by representatives of Russian and Tajik universities, included the following:
- Project Based Learning;
- E-learning and ICT-tools;
- Foreign Language for Engineering. Academic Writing;
- Research Based Strategies Learning;
- Curriculum Design and Development;
- Assessment;
- Communication.
Representatives of NMSTU team are Savinova Y. A., Zerkina N. N., Orinina L. V. they took part in this meeting and are developers of "Foreign Language for Engineering. Academic Writing", "Communication" courses.
The next meeting of the project will be devoted to the presentation of the interactive and most significant from the point of view of practical implementation of the part of each course, from which a synchronized version of the project Workbook will be created later.
