All the necessary resources to facilitate training of competent specialists and experts are available at the Institute:  there are modern, well-equipped laboratories at the departments. The faculty and staff of professors, Ph.Ds and D.Scs drive the educational process applying their rich experience.  Most of them are state and industry award winners.

Students of the Institute undergo practical trainings at the largest metallurgical enterprises such as Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works Group, Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant, Orsko-Khalilovsky Metallurgical Plant, Chelyabinsk metallurgical Plant, and so on. What is more, the students take part in research work under the Institute scientists’ supervision; perfect their sports mastery; enrich their cultural standards and acquire managerial skills.

The Institute graduates prove to be successful workers and specialists at metallurgical, machine building, mining, and processing enterprises, design engineering and construction organisations, maintenance, service and repair companies in the Urals and Siberia, Central Russia and Ukraine as well as other CIS areas. Since both technologists and mechanics get a fundamental training, industrial enterprises of Magnitogorsk, the Ural region and Russia call for our graduates.

The reality is that we offer our students the experience and knowledge enabling them to challenge any career heights.

The Institute pays greater attention to training of experts. All the Departments provide post-graduate programmes.

Nanosteel R&D establishment

Nanosteel R&D establishment is the functional area of the NosovMagnitogorskStateTechnicalUniversity which deals with fundamental and applied research, experimental and design works in the field of production of nanomaterials and nanosteels.

In reaction to dictates of our time, a new research area “Scientific technology of production of nanostructured steel wires used to produce high-tensile ropes and bimetal steel/copper products of high quality” is developing along with conventional research areas – manufacturing of advanced hardware items, development of a theory and technology of functional coating application. The scientific school is supervised by M.V. Chukin, Prof., D.Sc. in Engineering. At present, the scientists of Nanosteel intensively explore new methods of nanostructuring long steel products. The methods should be implemented into the current forming processes of hardware items. For example, integrated research and experimental and design works are performed to obtain high-tensile reinforcing bars from nanostructured steel to manufacture next-generation reinforced concrete sleepers. The scientists explore different methods of stress-induced nanostructuring of wires through laboratory tests. Technological research is based on extensive metallurgical background. These solutions cater for the current requirements of metallurgical and hardware enterprises.

R&D establishment of Metallurgical technologies and metal forming

The Institute promotes the innovative research development in the metallurgical sector of the Ural federal district by manufacturing new advanced steel grades and innovative production processes  for machine building, piping, construction, shipbuilding, and bridge building industries, and rolling and surface coating.

The Institute’s activities prove to be relevant since its mission corresponds to the priorities of the scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, upgrading and technological development of Russian economy. The priority areas are the nanosystem industry, energy efficiency, energy saving, and resource saving.  The Institute also considers critical technologies of the Russian Federation: technologies of structured nanomaterials manufacturing and processing, energy-efficient production technologies.
