The course consists of the following units and topics:
1. Introduction.
Topics: Classification of transport and transport technological systems. Factors of systems development. Geotransport resources and their renewability.
2. Analysis of the state-of-the-art of world and Russian transport science.
Topics: Transport as an economy sub-system. Generation of demand in the market of freight and passenger traffic. Function of supply of transportation services. Energy-efficiency of transport. Environmental issues of transport. Sources and preconditions of the development of transport, transport systems, and transport science.
3. Guidelines and trends of the development of rail road and automobile rolling stock, transport technologies, repair production facilities and maintenance service.
Topics: Impact of the market economy’s cyclicality on the transport infrastructure capacity. Adaptation of the capacity of transport systems to changes in the capacity of freight and passenger traffic. Modern methods of the development of transport and transport technological systems. General characteristic of rail road and automobile rolling stock. Progressive methods of organization and engineering of technical and running repairs.
4. Problems of transport maintenance, improvement of machine operational reliability, and design and operation of repair facilities.
Topics: Systems approach in logistics. Modern control technologies of logistical flow parameters. Basics of the rail road structural technology. Peculiarities and problems of interaction of different transport types in transportation hubs. Impact of operational reliability of machines on the quality of industrial and public transport services. Organizational tasks to improve operational reliability of rolling stock.
