Course units:
- Introduction. Key concepts and definitions. Up-to-date AC drives and their prospective development. Frequency converters in electric drives. Aims and structure of the course.
 - Electromechanical properties of an induction motor with an open-loop frequency control system and with scalar controls
 - Study of induction drive vector control systems
 - Study of synchronous variable frequency motor drives
 
Course contents:
- Up-to-date variable frequency AC drives: General information;
 - Theoretical and practical skills of selecting, calculating and setting up components of up-to-date variable frequency AC drives;
 - Theoretical and practical skills of tuning up control systems used in up-to-date variable frequency AC drives.
 
Activities:
- Teacher-led group activities in a classroom;
 - Extracurricular self-study of the teacher’s assignments and tasks, including the use of educational facilities (obligatory);
 - Office-hours.
