NMSTU Significantly Upgraded Its Webometrics World Ranking

In recent years, the name of Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University has witnessed a significant rise in the recognition rate worldwide. For example, this year NMSTU has seen a significant upgrade (by 3387 rankings) in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is a world university performance ranking system based on a composite indicator which includes the university web presence and impact. The aim of the ranking is to promote academic web presence and support the Open Access initiatives. First published in 2004, the ranking appears twice a year – in January and in July. Today the ranking provides web indicators for more than 25,000 universities worldwide.

Currently, NMSTU is ranked 80 among the Russian universities compared with its 262nd ranking last year. It means that NMSTU is now ranked within the top 100 universities in Russia. According to this global analytical tool, our university has strengthened its Presence Rank (the total number of web pages in the domain), Impact Rank (the number of links to the university web site), Openness Rank (the number of files containing full texts) and Excellence Rank (the number of papers published by prestigious international journals and the citation rate).

The positive dynamics of this process is proved by the fact that in the last six months NMSTU has done very successfully with three important world rankings. Thus, NMSTU was ranked 82 within the top 100 universities of Russia following the annual National University Ranking supported by Interfax. NMSTU was also ranked within the TOP 200 universities in the QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia Ranking. And now yet another success!
