Further Cooperation with Italy

On March 1st, NMSTU became the venue for a Russian-Italian seminar welcoming Professor Manuele Dabala from the University of Padova in Italy. During the seminar the Italian professor presented his lecture on steel metallurgy of welding.

The current visit is not Professor Dabala’s first visit to NMSTU. In 2013 he gave a series of lectures on Italian education and the metallurgical research conducted by the University of Padova.

This time the seminar gathered some of the NMSTU staff and students, including the students from the Jean Monnet University in France, who had recently arrived to study at NMSTU.

“We have been working closely with the University of Padova for three years now. Professor Manuele Dabala not only gives lectures at our university. He is also an editorial board member for NMSTU’s bulletin. And two years ago we had Professor Iren Cagliari giving lectures here. NMSTU’s Associate Professor Polyakova was awarded a grant by the University of Padova, and she travelled to Italy to give lectures to students and teaching staff. We have published six joint papers with the University of Padova. This semester two of our Master’s students are to go study in Padova as part of the academic mobility programme. And we hope that next year we will see students from the University of Padova studying at NMSTU as part of the EU Erasmus+ programme,” - says Natalia Kostina, Head of International Office.
