Five Steps Closer

On 1st October, a team of undergraduate and postgraduate students led by professor Levandovsky from NMSTU’s Department of Materials Processing returned from Italy, where they took an internship at one of the major manufacturers Danieli. It was the fifth trip under NMSTU’s so-called iSmart Packages concept, which stands for technology, equipment and human resources delivered in one package.

Six NMSTU students visited the Danieli Academy; a manufacturing, assembly and testing facility; Danieli Automation and its assembly facilities; and the ABS Steel site and laboratories.

The students met Danieli experts and discussed with them a variety of topics, including the power of compensation filters for electric arc and ladle furnaces; automation of continuous annealing lines; quality management system deployed at Danieli; QDrive technology; production of steel sheets and sections from ferrous and non-ferrous metals and other topics.

All the participants were awarded training certificates.

Professor Levandovsky took an opportunity to discuss with Danieli and the University of Udine the possibility to launch joint further training programmes and work together to implement the Russia Study programme.

On 26th September, NMSTU traditionally met with their colleagues from the University of Trieste. The two partners agreed to launch a student exchange programme. Now NMSTU is looking forward to welcoming Italian students. And NMSTU students are welcome to sign up for one of the Master’s courses offered – either in Russian (e.g. Engineering of Innovative Metal Forming Technologies) or in English (e.g. Advanced Metallurgical Engeneering).
