Magnitogorsk Materials Week: Fall 2019 started at NMSTU

Magnitogorsk Materials Week is officially opened! Today NMSTU started the international workshop on “Severe plastic deformation of metallic materials” (Magnitogorsk Materials Week: Fall 2019).

The Magnitogorsk Materials Week held twice a year (in spring and in fall) is organized by the Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials Laboratory at NMSTU. This fall the participants are leading researchers in the field of severe plastic deformation of metallic materials from Russia, Italy and Great Britain.

“This event is aimed at creating at NMSTU a center of attraction of leading, world-renowned researchers to discuss currently important issues of severe plastic deformation of metallic materials. Year by year we welcome more and more participants, their geography is growing. This year for the first time we even had a line of professors to give lectures. Some scientists are really internationally known in the field under study. For the first time, also students from Italy came to the workshop to attend the lectures. It means that more and more people in the world get to know about us”, commented Alexander Pesin, Deputy Head of the Mechanics of Gradient Nanomaterials Laboratory, Professor of the Materials Processing Technology Department, NMSTU.

The workshop will be fully in English. The researchers will give lectures and presentations within a week. The guests will also participate in the tours of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and the city. The program also includes visits to NMSTU Technopark and the Metallurg - Magnitogorsk Mountain Ski Center.

The workshop is held as part of the project of research activities supported by the grant of the Government of the Russian Federation as part of the subprogram on “Institutional development of the research and development sector” of the 2013-2020 Russian State Program on “Development of science and technologies” approved by Resolution of the Russian Government No.220 dated 9 April 2010 (t 2018-08 MG).
