HUMAN+ Conference

On 23rd-25th November, the Institute for the Humanities at the Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University will witness an international conference HUMAN+ 2021.
The aim of the Conference is to provide a platform for discussions that touch on the current status and prospects of the contemporary humanities taking into account the cross-disciplinary trends of today.
The objectives include redefining the prospects of the contemporary humanities aimed at encouraging critical thinking, which is about shifting from objective to reflective mind; understanding how globalization (which can only be grasped in connection with the humanities) has influenced the humanities and understanding the transforming relationship between the professional humanities knowledge and the society, the ability and willingness of the humanities professionals to deal with the public).

Humans + Words: Knowledge and communication: Language units in the new research paradigm
Humans + Motion: Dance and the culture of motion in the humanities framework
Humans + History: Historical memory, ethnic identity and commemorative practices
The Conference agenda includes:
- Off- and online plenary meetings and workshops with participants from the UK, France, Poland, Latvia, Sweden and Brazil – 23rd & 24th Nov
- A master class in free dance – 23rd Nov
- The Impossible (2021), an Igor Goncharov documentary about the history of Magnitogorsk – 25th Nov
- Lecture & Conversation: Culture Shock: UK – Russia, national traits, behaviours, stereotypes – 25th Nov
