It is the first time after a six-year break since 2015, when the students and postgraduate students of Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University had a practical training abroad at CJSC MMK Metalurji, a metallurgical plant in Turkey. From the 5th of December till the 12th of December, the university students visited the second industrial site of the plant located in Dilovası, 40 km from Istanbul.
It should be noted that the practical training at the Istanbul site took place for the first time since the beginning of such program at MMK Metalurji, because from 2011 to 2015 university students visited the industrial site in Iskenderun, the Hatay province in the south of Turkey.
This year the group consisted of 5 students from the Institute of Power Engineering and Automated Systems (Zakharov V.M., Mustakov R.A., Maksimov I.I., Kokorin I.D., Shmanev D.E.) and 2 students from the Institute of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Material Processing (Avramenko A.A., Nosov L.V.). The practical training was supervised by Nikolaev A.A., Head of the Department of Automated Electrical Drives and Mechatronics, and Lymar A.B., senior lecturer of the Department of Automated Electrical Drives and Mechatronics.
During the practical training the students collected technical data on the operating modes and control algorithms of interrelated electrical drive systems of the hot dip galvanizing line and the color coating line, modes and control algorithms of strip heating and cooling in the furnace and the strip cooling zone of HDGL, and the quality control system applied at HDGL and CCL.
Thanks to the excellent organization of the practical training by the management of the company, and support of Turkish technical experts, the students collected all the required information and studied all the issues specified in the individual assignments. The received data will be used by the students to carry out the current research and prepare term and diploma papers and PhD theses. It should be noted that before the trip all the students had additional courses on English at the Center of Foreign Languages at NMSTU. On the last day of the practical training Denis Kvasov, General Director of CJSC MMK Metalurji, and Başar Başaran, Head of the Plant in Istanbul, gave the students certificates of successful practical training. Moreover, at the meeting the parties agreed to continue collaboration between NMSTU and MMK Metalurji in the field of practical training for students and teachers and research and development at the plant’s facilities.
