NMSTU Signed the Joint Declaration of the International Civil Society on Working Together to Implement the Global Development Initiative

At a kind invitation of the China Foundry Association, a partner of NMSTU, on the 12th of August the University took part in the International Civil Society Solidarity Conference on the Global Development Initiative(GDI), conducted by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE), and signed the Joint Declaration of the International Civil Society.

The event was devoted to the following subject: Working together to establish the General Development Association and implement UN General Assembly Resolution 70/1 “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The invited participants included representatives from various sectors and political, non-government organizations, analytical centers, mass media and business circles, who shared their ideas and recommendations on efficient implementation of GDI and joint establishment of the community with a shared future and sustainable development.

The Global Development Initiative (GDI) was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, when delivering an important speech at the General Debate of the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly on September 21, 2021, and it was promptly responded by the UN and almost 100 countries.

GDI is based on six messages: staying committed to development as a priority, a people-centered approach, benefits for all and inclusion, innovation-driven development, harmony between man and nature, and results-oriented actions.

GDI is not limited to a particular moment, event, country or region. It responds to current challenges faced by countries, especially developing countries, and is one more major initiative proposed by China after the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
