Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice - 2022
From May 31st to June 4th, NMSTU will welcome the 6th International Youth Conference Magnitogorsk Rolling Practice - 2022 which focuses on the problems of metals and alloys forming.
This time, the Conference will bring together more than 120 students, young researchers and industry experts from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Lipetsk, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Kamensk Uralsky, Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Beloretsk, Magnitogorsk, as well as from Kazakhstan and Belarus.
“Magnitogorsk is a city of heroic laibourers, one of the world’s major centres of ferrous metallurgy that boasts great scientific and industrial potentials. It has become a good tradition to hold this youth conference dedicated to the fundamental and applied problems of metals and alloys forming at NMSTU,” – says chairperson of the Conference’s organizing committee, vice rector for international affairs Alexey Korchunov. “Such high attention to this year’s Conference is due to its unordinary format, in the first place. Thus, it will encompass lectures by distinguished academics dealing with the problems of metals and alloys forming, as well as subject-specific workshops that will give floor to young researchers. Another reason is that the participants missed meeting one another face to face as the previous conference was held online because of the pandemic.”
The Conference agenda includes a tour around Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works and MMK-METIZ, a metaware plant. The participants will also have a chance to look around the innovative research labs of the University.
Another good tradition is a best report competition. The papers that will be reported on by young researchers are to be published in Russian peer-reviewed journals.
“Our primary aim is to create an environment for young researchers to discuss new trends, prospects and innovations that are entering their professional area,” – adds professor Korchunov. “From our experience, we can see that the Conference does not only serve as a forum for presenting reports, but it brings together different ideas creating collaborations. For some, it is an opportunity to find their academic opponents. Some of the participants end up entering joint projects and grants. Our Conference brings new opportunities for young researchers and this thought makes us very happy.”
This Conference will have the following sections:
- Innovative Technology and Materials in Metal Forming;
- Cross-Disciplinary Solutions in Advanced Materials Engineering (iSmart-MetalForming); and
- Fundamental Problems of Metal Forming in the Context of Current Global Industrial Needs.
The plenary session is to take place on May 31st at 10 a.m. in the conference room situated in the NMSTU central building (38 Lenina prospekt).
