Greetings on the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War!

Dear war veterans and war workers,

Dear teachers, staff members and students,

We would like to extend our sincere congratulations on the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War!

May 9 will always remain in our memory as a symbol of heroism and courage of the nation which defended peace on earth. We are proud of the fact that the many heroes of the Great Patriotic War came from our region. Their exploits are timeless. Our goal is to keep memory of feats of arms and labor feats of war veterans and workers for next generations.

Students, teachers and staff of the then Magnitogorsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy made a great contribution to defense of our Motherland and strengthening of the defense industry in this country. I mean not only smart solutions: for example, our scientists developed their theoretical rationale for the safest rolling schedules for armor steel on the blooming mill providing tank building plants with the products in only one month after the beginning of the War. Many volunteers went to protect the Motherland on the frontlines. The Institute did stop a teaching process for a day in those hard times and its graduate engineers worked on the largest industrial plants to help the war effort. The War killed 65 teachers, students and staff members of the Magnitogorsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, but the memory of them lives on.

We bow down to war veterans for their stamina and moral courage, for their faith to the Motherland! Let our heroes’ will to win inspire us for new challenges! We wish you peace, health and happiness!

Rector, NMSTU

Valery Kolokoltsev, President, NMSTU,
