Greetings from the Czech Republic!

The NMSTU students, the participants of the EU Erasmus+ Programme, just returned from their semester-long stay at the University of Technology in České Budějovice. Study abroad helps broaden one’s horizons, meet new friends from all over the world, practice one’s foreign language, learn different cultures, visit various places. Through study abroad one can try oneself in different educational systems, feel a part of the international student community, learn how to make one’s own academic choices. As a result, a student learns to appreciate his or her native university.

NMSTU– UCLA: Russian-American Seminar

A visit of Lindy Burden Comstock, a linguist from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), who was invited to NMSTU by the Department of the English Language of the Institute of Humanities, took place as part of the NMSTU’s Development Programme. The students and the faculty of the host department were privileged to learn the latest developments in contemporary linguistics.

Variety of Languages is the Spice of Life

Another NMSTU student who just returned from her 6-month trip to the Freiburg University of Mining and Technology is Khulkar Alovadinova, a postgraduate student from the Department of of Heat and Power Engineering Systems. Khulkar had been awarded a 2016-2017 Presidential Grant, which gives one the opportunity to study at international scientific or educational institutions.

Unforgettable Trip to France

Five NMSTU students from the Institute of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Processing and the Institute of Power Engineering and Automation Systems spent the whole of the last semester at the Jean Monnet University in Saint-Etienne, France as part of the Erasmus+ Academic Mobility Programme.

Further Cooperation with Italy

On March 1st, NMSTU became the venue for a Russian-Italian seminar welcoming Professor Manuele Dabala from the University of Padova in Italy. During the seminar the Italian professor presented his lecture on steel metallurgy of welding.

NMSTU Celebrates Serbia’s Independence Day

On 15 February, NMSTU’s Institute of Historical Anthropology and Linguistics saw a round table marking the anniversary of Serbian Independence. The event gathered some teaching staff of the Department of World History and students of History and Tourism at the same table with Serbians who live in Magnitogorsk.
