In early February, Webometrics Ranking of World's Universities, which is one of the most prestigious web rankings in global education, announced its annual results. More than 24,000 universities from all around the world were included in the recent ranking,with1,307 being universities from Russia. NMSTU maintained its position within TOP-100 Russian universities and was ranked 4383 among world universities.

NMSTU Students Excel in All Star Match!

From 24 to 28 January, the Russian city of Orel was witnessing a grandiose student sports event – All Star Match by the Student Basketball Association (or, SBA). This is an annual event that gathers the best basketball players from Russian universities’ teams. The participants are divided into two teams: one represents the East, the other one – the West. This time the match in Orel gathered more than 800 audience.

Researchers from NMSTU and Ural Research, Development and Production Facility Granted A Patent for New Steelmaking Process

In January 2017, the research team of the Department of Metallurgy and Casting of the NMSTU Institute of Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Processing, together with the Ural Research, Development and Production Facility, was granted a patent by the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property for a new Basic Oxygen Steelmaking process.

International Russian Language Competition for Foreign Students Welcomes Participants!

The Faculty of Additional Education for Children and Adults together with the Department of Russian as A Foreign Language are announcing the 1st International Russian Language Competition for Foreign Students!

Our Congratulations to Winner of Mikhail Lomonosov International Programme!

Inna Khripacheva, PhD in Engineering, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Construction of the Institute of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Art, became a winner of Mikhail Lomonosov International Programme, a project by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science launched together with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Inna was successful with Line B, i.e. research scholarships and internships for young faculty members and researchers with a degree in engineering or sciences who are younger than 45.  Inna is scheduled to go on a research internship to the F.A. Finger Institute for Building Materials Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany in the autumn of 2017 (September 15 through December 15).

Training for Foreigners Funded by the Government

Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University has been included in the pool of universities which are to receive federal funding for the academic year of 2017/18. The funding is meant to cover the additional educational programmes designed for foreign students and students without citizenship who enter the university based on the quota for foreign and stateless applicants and who, therefore, are entitled for preparation courses designed to prepare them for degree programmes taught in Russian.
